Bowen therapy promotes self-healing and is a bodywork treatment that sends a signal to the brain through gentle, rolling movements upon the client’s skin or through light clothing. This “signal” tells the body to relax painful joints, tendons, nerves and muscles thereby addressing the origin of the “disorganized” tissue and helping the body to rebalance and heal itself. Bowen’s message to the brain stimulates a response that releases the fascia to its normal resting rate, relaxing or tightening tension in the fascia so that our muscles, nerves, tendons, and organs can function the way they were intended to when we were born.
Bowenwork helps the body shift from the sympathetic mode(stress) to the parasympathectic mode (relaxation). Usually after 2 or 3 sessions clients are more relaxed and better able to deal with the stress in their lives.
While each person responds to Bowenwork differently, a vast number of conditions are seen to respond well, including:
· Shoulder and back pain
· Tennis elbow
· Carpal tunnel syndrome
· Arthritis pain
· Fibromyalgia
· Migraines
· Sciatica
· Digestion
· Infertility and reproductive issues
. Colic
· Menstrual pain
· Chronic fatigue syndro
· Jaw issues (TMJ)
Bowenwork requires no special equipment, lotions, or oils, and is generally performed over lightweight clothing rather than on bare skin.
